Tim Massaquoi is an Executive Leader and Licensed Professional Counselor whose research and clinical work focuses on trauma-informed care, youth development, and mental health advocacy. With extensive experience studying vulnerable populations, particularly homeless youth and athletes in transition, Tim brings unique insight to victim-centered research and program development. As Clinical Director at The Ladipo Group, Tim led multiple collaborative research initiatives examining the effectiveness of culturally-responsive therapeutic approaches. His work involved partnerships with local universities and community organizations to study intervention outcomes among underserved populations. Tim's research methodology integrates quantitative outcome measurements with qualitative narrative analysis, informed by his expertise in Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. At Youth Emergency Service in Philadelphia, Tim spearheaded research on trauma-informed practices for homeless youth, developing evidence-based interventions through partnerships with local shelters and social service agencies. His work has contributed to the development of best practices for crisis intervention and long-term support services. Tim is fluent in English and Spanish, facilitating broader community engagement and cross-cultural research initiatives. Currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Organization Development and Change at Sacred Heart University, Tim's research focuses on systems-level interventions in mental health service delivery. His background as a former NFL player (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, and Buffalo Bills) informs his innovative research on athlete mental health and transition support services. Tim holds an MA in Counseling Psychology from Eastern University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. Tim's community leadership extends to his role on the board of the Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative, where he guides research on sports-based youth development programs and their impact on community outcomes. As a member of the NFL Retired Players Mental Health Advisory Board, he contributes to research initiatives examining mental health challenges and intervention strategies for former professional athletes. His private therapy practice serves as a hub for clinical research, particularly in examining the effectiveness of integrated therapeutic approaches for diverse populations.
