Michelle Y. Richter has a B.A. in Psychology and Hon. B.A. in Anthropology from McMaster University, B.S. in Criminal justice/Criminalistics from Lake Superior State University, M.S. in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky State University, an M.S.F.S. in Forensic Science and a PH.D in Justice Administration from Sam Houston State University. She is an associate professor of criminology at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Dr. Richter’s background has allowed her to bridge multiple disciplines thus helping students and professionals understand their professions in a larger criminal justice context. Her presentations and workshops have included topics in bridging the understanding of forensic science for victim advocates, bullying victims in the workplace, links between hate crimes & bullying, police interactions with the mentally ill, victims of fraud, youth relationship violence, and burglary victimization. In the past, she has engaged in variety of outreach projects linking students to organizations such as Foundation Communities of Austin, Travis County D.A.s office - Victim Services Unit, and M.A.D.D. among others.
