BIO
René Olate, PhD, is an Associate Professor at The Ohio State University College of Social Work. He has conducted cross-national research on youth development programs and worked as an international consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), United Nations, and USAID in several countries of the Latin American region. Dr. Olate has held faculty positions at Catholic University of Chile and Boston College. Dr. Olate’s scholarship focuses on masculinities, youth violence, and community and positive youth development. Dr. Olate is conducting research about the intersection of masculinities, violence, risk behaviors and resilience on youth in the U.S., El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Nicaragua.
