Nicholas Chagnon is a criminologist at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, which is where he earned his PhD in 2016. His research is informed by feminist and critical criminologies. He studies topics such as sexual violence, partner abuse, and police and state violence. He primarily researches how the politics surrounding such issues play out in media coverage. His research has been published in journals such as Critical Criminology, Feminist Criminology, Crime Media Culture, and Radical Criminology. He teaches courses on juvenile delinquency, race and ethnicity, social theory, gender and media, and feminist methods, as well as introductory courses in sociology and criminology.
