Kathleen M. Preble, Ph.D., MSW focuses her area of inquiry on issues related to understanding power perceptions within human trafficking dyads and gender based violence. Reflecting on her nearly decade of social work practice experience with refugee and human trafficking populations, her research interests seek to increase our understanding of this human rights violation leading to empowering prevention, intervention, and aftercare service delivery. She utilizes qualitative and quantitative methods to explore perceptions of power, and when possible, she prefers mixed-method designs. Dr. Preble anchors her research within the needs of the community striving to ensure the research has direct application in the field. She has developed strong relationships with governmental and non-governmental organizations, academic partnerships, and survivor collaborations. Dr. Preble is an Assistant Professors at the University of Missouri School of Social Work.
