BIO

Farida K. Ejaz is a Senior Research Scientist in the Center for Research and Education of the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging. Dr. Ejaz received her PhD in Social Welfare from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (MSASS), Case Western Reserve University. Her research interests include examining quality of life and care in residential care facilities and community-based settings from the perspective of older adults, their families and the staff who care for them. Dr. Ejaz has served as principal, co-principal or other investigator on more than 25 externally funded research grants from various sources such as the Administration on Aging, National Institutes of Health, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Atlantic Philanthropies and the Ohio Department of Aging. Dr. Ejaz has taught courses at local universities including research methods classes at MSASS at Case Western Reserve University. She has published more than 45 publications in peer-reviewed journals and edited books. She has given over 130 presentations at national and professional conferences. She was a co-editor of the book, Satisfaction Surveys in Long-Term Care, published by Springer in 2000 and was editor for a special issue on Resident Satisfaction with Long-term Care for the Journal of Aging and Social Policy in 2007. She is currently planning an edited book on Aging in Asia with colleagues in Asian universities. She has also developed online training on abuse, neglect and exploitation for professionals working with older adults and adults with disabilities. Dr. Ejaz is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), the convener of the Aging in Asia interest group at GSA, a member of the Research Committee and the Minority Concerns Committee of the American Society on Aging, a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a member of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education.
