CMHC is widely respected in the field and is sought out to assist in creating international legislation, as a guest speaker at reputable institutions and provides critical data for further research and understanding of mental health issues. In 1998, Elisa Jimenez took part as a researcher for the UN’s project on creating Mexico’s policy on domestic violence. California Mental Health Connection has large data samples for research and is involved with graduate programs at USD with Dr. Johnson on multicultural research and complex trauma; with UCLA on the emergency psychiatric response team; and partners with USC and UCLA in community research. The organization has (4) books in the making (“Introduction to Evil”, “Complex Trauma”, “ Trauma training for therapists working with complex trauma, and “Prevention of Crime”). CMHC has therapists who provide workshops for the community at various levels of prevention, treatment, and intervention; yearly training to Promotores de Salud regarding DV, complex trauma, substance abuse, and prevention. the organization also participates in conferences and lectures at graduate programs, high schools, and intermediate schools addressing the decrease in violence while increasing parents’ competence in discipline, values, family integration, and drug and alcohol reduction. Overseen by Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, CMHC has taken the lead in the Women’s Health Committee for the San Gabriel Mental Health Consortium that participates with the House in policymaking regarding Mental Health issues.
