Dr. Zina McGee conducts research on community-level youth violence and victimization among urban adolescents. The focus is primarily on patterns of coping (negative and positive) as moderators to the effects of direct and indirect victimization on mental health and behavioral outcomes. She is a member of the American Sociological Association, Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and the American Society of Criminology. Publications have been in the areas of youth violence, mental health, and coping.
