Public Benefits and Child Maltreatment: Implications for Prevention and Equity

Another in a series of free, virtual lectures from The Kempe Center, featuring esteemed clinicians and researchers who specialize in the field of child maltreatment. These talks will be livestreamed via Zoom and open to the public (no registration necessary).

Presenter: Hank T. Puls, MD, Physician, Children’s Mercy Kansas City, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The overarching goal of Dr. Puls’ research agenda is to reduce child maltreatment, particularly physical abuse among infants and young children. In pursuit of this goal, he is actively engaged in research investigating public policies and programs with the capacity to improve the well-being of children and families. He is also interested in improving the equitable and accurate identification, reporting, and prevention of child maltreatment, particularly which newborn infants might be at the greatest risk for physical abuse.
