John C. Navarro, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at Sam Houston State University in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology. Navarro is a first-generation scholar who earned a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisville. Current research projects include the implications of registered sex offenders in communities and attitudes toward rape myths among various subcultures of university students. More broadly, research interests include victimization, social ecology, public policies, and spatial analyses.
