BIO

Lisa Fedina received her BSW (2008) and MSW (2009) from the University of Toledo and her PhD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2018). Her research interests include gender-based violence and developing multidisciplinary and culturally responsive interventions aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of survivors, particularly in healthcare and criminal justice system settings. Lisa completed a pre-doctoral training fellowship at the National Institute of Justice in the Violence Against Women and Family Violence Program, where she led several studies on sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking and served on task forces to promote cross-agency collaboration, including the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault. She has extensive experience in designing and conducting epidemiological research on violence, poly-victimization (i.e. multiple and co-occurring exposure to varying forms of violence), physical and mental health outcomes, and survivors' experiences with healthcare and criminal justice systems. Additionally, Lisa has mixed-methods research training using both qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate programs and services and has advanced quantitative data analysis skills (e.g., structural equation modeling). Lisa previously evaluated trauma-informed services for underserved youth and provided direct services to survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking. She has partnered with victim advocacy organizations to engage in community organizing and policy advocacy initiatives to address gender-based violence at local, state, and national levels.
