Dr. Evanson is a skilled qualitative researcher, whose primary research interest is in intimate partner violence (IPV). In particular, she is interested in rural populations. She has conducted many IPV trainings with healthcare providers to help them better screen and assist victims. She is a former board member and Vice President of the Nursing Network on Violence Against Women International (NNVAWI), and received the Outstanding Researcher Award from that organization in 2016.
