Allen Wong earned his Ph.D. in sociology from the University at Albany, SUNY. His specialty areas are immigration and crime. In his research, Wong examines individual-level variations in criminal victimization among immigrant ethnicities, and immigrant generations. His research additionally looks at the effects of criminological variables from traditional offending and victimization theories in criminology on the variations of victimization among said groups. At the university level, Allen has also collaborated with Amnesty International (University at Albany, SUNY chapter) on workshops in transnational human trafficking. On the city level, Allen has worked with the Capitol City Rescue Mission (Albany, NY) in their Learning Center, where former inmates, and crime victims can attain an education and learn skills to enter and/or reenter the work force.
