BIO

Kimberly Henry, CEO of The GOLD Beacon, is an avid educator and program developer. She is a Navy Veteran, prior federal employee, and violence survivor. Her work as a Sexual Assault Victim Advocate across all service branches resulted in setting standards and breaking barriers for victim reporting, specifically in a military training environment. Furthermore, she led an advanced Navy intelligence analyst course as an Instructor Supervisor and Curriculum Developer, shaping the curriculum to be the blueprint of other service branch courses. While completing her Masters in Social Work at the University of Southern California, Ms. Henry completed an internship at the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Through a virtual setting, she facilitated the project process for the Texas State Advisory Committee investigating civil rights disparities following Hurricane Harvey. Managing the findings and recommendations, Ms. Henry drafted a 36-page Advisory Memorandum, which was ultimately published and played a role in significant policy change at FEMA for survivors of natural disasters. Various agencies and organizations seek Ms. Henry’s expertise to help them increase capacity, enhance services, and improve program effectiveness. Kimberly is also an advocate for mental health and "non-visible" disabilities. You will see her with her Service Dog, Daisy, who is a key aspect in helping change the understanding and perception of disabilities, survivors of trauma, and PTSD. Kimberly is the mother of three amazing children and three rambunctious rescue dogs.
