BIO

Matt Bere is a doctoral student at the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University. He has been working these last couple of years on issues related to preventing and countering violent extremism with a focus on jihadist terrorism in the Sahara-Sahel region. Matt's research has included the drivers of violent extremism and strategies to address them, the targeting and victimization of civilians by violent extremist organizations, and trauma-healing for victims of mass-violence.
